eggstravagant eggs and rampaging rabbits ...

I love the month of March and its many celebrations.  Here are just a few of the ones I will be acknowledging and celebrating ...

Ostara/Ēostre

This Pagan festival is one of the eight festivals of the Wheel of Year. It is also known as Spring Equinox. The word Ēostre comes from the beautiful Greek Goddess Eos (known also as Aurora) bringer of the dawn, the morning dew, the beginning of springtime and new beginnings.

The Spring Equinox is the time when the days equal the length of night, bringing in the balance of light and dark. The ground becomes warmer and plants begin to grow, bud and flower. It is time of fertility, new life and beginnings, lambs are born, eggs are decorated (in many cultures they are still painted red and given as gifts to honour the Goddess), and hares and rabbits go on a mating rampage!

It is also a renowned time for organising, cleaning and for releasing what no longer serves you, so you can begin anew too.

How does your garden grow?

I’ve been collecting decorations for a couple of faery houses and a faery door I’m going to use to create a faery garden in my flower bed in the garden. I have established blue irises in there that are coming up now, some gorgeous orange crocosmia and Greek basil but I want to sow some new seeds to go in there this year. I’m ordering some beautiful flower seeds, one of which is Nicotiana ‘Tinkerbell’ which I’m hoping will make the faeries feel at home 😊 I’ll be sure to put some pics as I start to create these and keep you updated with its progress over the next month.

In amongst the many shiny decorations I’ve gathered together are some cute little felt shamrocks from the very talented Christine from Lilac Sprig here in Crewe who creates some beautiful embellishments from felt. You can find her on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lilacsprig/ and she has shops on eBay and Etsy too!
