It’s official we are in the Autumn Season! The leaves are changing and falling, and those colder nights are drawing in … brrr!
The energy of the month is set to be a heart opener or breaker! Venus goes retrograde today (5th October) so the focus for the next 40 days (until 15th November) is going to be on our relationships and connections.
Venus is the goddess of love and beauty and while in retrograde in the sign of Scorpio, there is an intensity to heal from your past in order to open up to a love greater than you have ever known. This is the unconditional love of self and others. There won’t be a Venus retrograde next year, so it’s important to do the work now.
Today’s cards from The Faeries’ Oracle came through with that all-important message of forgiveness. You can check out the full reading on my Facebook page, but the message seems to be in order to move on, the past must be healed. This is in no way easy and you cannot change what has happened. There are all times in our lives when we wish we had done things differently. Each one of us have a choice in any given moment. There is no magic wand you can wave at it, no time machine you can jump into. It has happened!
You can, however, acknowledge, accept and forgive yourself for those experiences and take the wisdom you gained from them to move you forwards. Choosing to forgive yourself and not the person that wronged you that you need to forgive. This does not mean that you are condoning what that person did. It simply means that you are giving yourself permission to move forward and not allowing the experience stay with you.
If you stay in that place of unforgiveness, it can eat away at your very core. Past hurts, anger and resentments can manifest themselves as pain in your physical body and disease in the long term.
Remember that each one of us is doing the best that we can in any given moment. As we grow and evolve, we gain knowledge with experience and then we come from that place. Learn from your past experiences and take those lessons with you to move forwards to a better way of life for yourself with grace and ease.

31st
Samhain
The festival of Samhain originates from ancient Ireland, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the ‘darker half’ of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31st October to 1st November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset. This is about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. The ancient Irish celebrated the Festival of the Dead - Samhain, which is pronounced sow-en, and is usually translated as ‘summer’s end’.
At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.
The family's ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm. Bonfires and food played a large part in the festivities. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into a communal fire, household fires were extinguished and started again from the bonfire. Food was prepared for the living and the dead, food for the ancestors who were in no position to eat it, was ritually shared with the less well off.
Two hills in the Boyne Valley were associated with Samhain in Celtic Ireland, Tlachtga and Tara. Tlachtga was the location of the Great Fire Festival which begun on the eve of Samhain (Halloween).
The entrance passage to the Mound of the Hostages on the Hill of Tara is aligned with the rising sun around Samhain. The Mound of the Hostages is 4,500 to 5000 years old, suggesting that Samhain was celebrated long before the first Celts arrived in Ireland about 2,500 years ago.
